The extend of your project depends on what type of bioethanol fireplace you get. Whether you want a wall, ceiling or free-standing bio fireplace. In addition, it must be considered whether the fire is to be built into a unit and if so- to what extent. If you are DIY-ing, you can follow our example below. Example: Do-it-yourself installation of bio burner

Step 1

The first step in your fireplace project is, of course, to consider how your bio fire should look. Then you can start planning, measuring and constructing the structure - possibly in a cooperation with a carpenter if it will be built into the wood. Supplementary support for the burner is prepared, which is built of fireproof materials. Remember to draw the power supply on the project with an automatic burner.

Step 2

Measure and grind the plasterboard to the front before continuing work with the fireproof openings. MDF plates can be mounted under the plasterboard. Attach gypsum and any MDF plates to the wood frame. The dimensions of the opening should be checked so that the bio fire get the desired appearance.

Step 3

The lining of the opening in the wall is the most important point to consider when installing your bio fire box. It must be built into heat resistant and fireproof materials such as bricks, slate, tile, concrete, mortar, cement, fermacell, firewall, steel or vermiculite plates.

Step 4

This step may be different depending on which method of operation is used. In our example we have used a heat resistant steel plate. The steel plate is attached to our wooden frame and our automatic, 152 cm burner is set in the wall. We have ensured that the fit is completely tight, if not - the steel would have to be expanded.

Step 5

The fifth step is a consideration stage. For example, if the TV is fitted over a fireplace, the top of the opening should be insulated with a thick layer of brick, steel, stone or similar. This is done to prevent the heat from rising flames. Take a look at our TV guide here.

In our example we have used steel at the bottom of the opening. Use other material- such as a plate of fermacell, firewall or vermiculite, it might be a good idea to cover this with fireproof cement. The edge between the bottom and the front ( in our case gypsum boards) is advantageously protected with a corner metal door to provide extra security.
