Brothers and blacksmiths

Rasmus and Rene Kristensen both grew up in the northen part of Jutland in Denmark, where they also started the production of their wine cellars.

The idea of a a buried wine cellar in the floor came after the youngest brother, Rasmus, had a dream of having a wine fridge in their new home. It wasn't an idea the wife was particularly keen on due to lack of space. So Rasmus investigated the possibility of setting up wine storage elsewhere and, with advice from his brother Rene, managed to persuade his wife to have a wine cellar buried in a spare room. Today, this has led to the success of Vinorage, which has a patent for this type of underfloor wine cellar.

Drawing on their background as trained cabinetmakers with many years of hands-on experience, the brothers designed and built the first Vinorage cellar themselves. The craftsmanship came naturally — the precision, the materials, and the tactile quality were all familiar territory. In 2017, confident in their vision, Rasmus and René decided to leave their jobs and dedicate themselves fully to building Vinorage. Since then, the company has grown steadily, expanding its workshop and team while maintaining its uncompromising standards of quality.

When Vinorage introduced their first exclusive underfloor wine cellar designs, the reaction was immediate and extraordinary. A single Facebook ad showcasing the elegant, space-saving solution garnered over 2.2 million views and 40,000 comments from design enthusiasts and wine collectors worldwide.

This organic viral success highlighted the immense interest in Vinorage’s revolutionary approach to wine storage — an elegant, functional piece of furniture that could be seamlessly integrated into a modern home’s architecture.

In 2020, Vinorage was named Entrepreneur of the Year in their local municipality, further cementing their reputation as pioneers of craftsmanship and innovation.
