Why choose a wood stove?

When choosing an oven for your home, the primary purpose of the stove will almost always be warmth and coziness. This type of fireplaces will be a good fit as it has a high thermal output and will function well as an additional warmth source while contributing to a nice atmosphere. A wood stove is relatively inexpensive to operate, as only wood is needed for creating a nice burning flame.

Advantages:

  • Provides a maximum thermal output
  • Easy access to wood at an affordable price
  • Cozy atmosphere
  • It is possible to turn it into a bio fire later
  • You can decide from several styles

Disadvantages:

  • Requires more cleaning and care than some other fireplace
  • Cannot be turned on / off with remote control
  • Only the professional sweeper can clean the chimney
  • Not the most environmentally friendly fireplace

How to properly connect a wood stove?

Unlike some other gas fireplaces, an authorized installer is not required here. Although we recommend contacting a professional when doing the installation. If you don’t have that alternative, you can easily install our stoves yourself. It is mandatory that an abstractor is connected to the fireplace, as it is not possible to have a wood burning fire without a vent.

When choosing the location for the burning stove, it is best to avoid placement of an exterior wall, as this can cause a large energy loss on especially poorly insulated exterior walls. It is recommended that you install the stove in a room in the house where the floor is made of refractory materials. If this is not the case, install a fireproof plate under the fireplace that sticks out at least 50 cm in front and 30 cm to the sides of the oven. So you don’t risk anything when using the stove.

The distance to the walls and furniture in deciding where to place the stove is also important to remember. If there are fire resistant walls a distance of 20-30 cm is sufficient, otherwise you should have at least 40-60 cm for everything combustible.

The chimney should have a minimum size of 15 x 15 cm and should stand out at least 4.5 meters above the fire. If your chimney is mounted by a professional, the stove is not insured and in the event of an accident, you are responsible for the cost. Find all your accessories with us!

How to properly light up wood stoves?

It is extremely important that you only utilize dry firewood with a maximum moisture content of 25% to fuel your fireplace. In many hardware stores, a humidity meter can be purchased that you can use to measure the moisture of your wood.

Place 4-6 pieces of wood in the oven on top of each other. Begin with the smallest piece and then place on top of each other and place a small ignition block on top is the best way to fuel the fire. Open the air regulator all the way up to warm up your stove. The best way to light the wood completely by heating the chimney quickly and build up a fire like mentioned before. This will also increase efficiency.

Design on a wood burning stove

There is some different designs for wood stoves. We have the traditional ones as many will think of when hearing "wood stove”, but then there also are some of these products for built into the wall, which will give a more modern and stylish look in your home. Then the chimney or ventilation will be covered inside the wall.

These products is often black but you can also find a wood stove in other colors. If you chose one of the built in wood stoves, you will also have the possibility to transform it into a bioethanol fireplace which in 2020 are being more and more popular. There we have some transform-kits, so you easily can turn your wood stove into a more environmentally friendly fireplace.

With a bio fireplace you don’t need the chimney, but it doesn’t matter if you already have a chimney.

With wood stoves you can enjoy the real burning fire while the heat are holding you warm. The only thing you need for this product to get a nice heat is wood and a lighter.

Summary – What’s good about a wood stove?

The good thing about a wood fire is that you get a cozy atmosphere in your home with warmth while choosing the design you want. All you need for a nice heat from the stove is wood – you don’t need any gas supply or something like that.
