In the garden, wind and weather will reduce the burntime of the fire, and can also affect the beautiful appearance of the fireplace. This can, of course, be counteracted with any type of wind protection, dismantling the fireplace when it is no longer needed and putting water and windproof tarpaulin over it. All these are be great ways of protecting your fireplace, and making sure it last for many years to come. If you choose to buy a stainless steel or white bio fireplace, this is something you need to take into consideration, if you plan to use it outdoors.

Our recommendation is to operate the bio fireplace on a terrace, where your freestanding model is always protected.

With smaller freestanding fireplaces or table fires, things are a little different. Here, just as with the indoor operation of the ethanol fireplace, relatively little attention has to be paid. So you can easily extend the warm summer evenings in the garden with a small tabletop fire. It is important that you dry the fireplace after using it, as wind and weather will otherwise damage a bio fireplace in the long run. But in general our outdoor fires are made to withstand most types of weather.

However, we would always recommend that your bio fireplace for outdoor use is stored somewhere dry during the winter months.

How Safe is an Ethanol Floorstanding Fireplace?

Our bioethanol fireplaces are very safe. In order for the burner to be used in a fireplace, it must first undergo a rigorous inspection by the Technical Inspection Association (TÜV – in German). This German association makes sure to examine and approve the burner. They test the burning time, the generated flame and ensure that the fuel is being kept inside the burner while the chimney is in use.

As long as the operation of the bio fireplace is done responsibly and with care, a bio ethanol fire is safe, and can be kept in any home.
